It’s coming up on my favorite time of year – fall!  Fall in Western New York means cooler weathers, gorgeous leaves, and of course FOOTBALL!  Not only do I LOVE cheering on my alma mater and our local professional football team, now that my oldest daughter is in high school, attending her high school’s sporting events is something that the girls and I can do as a family.  While she plays volleyball, we love cheering on her school’s football team on Friday nights! Everyone has such school spirit, whether it’s dressing in team colors, excessive amount of face paint, or team cheers, the fans at her school really get into it, and it creates excitement in our home all year long! So today, I thought I would share with you a quick, fun and easy tutorial for making a noisemaker that you can customize for your favorite team to cheer on on Friday nights.

You’ll need to pick up a few supplies.  I headed to Walmart to pick up a couple 12 packs of POWERADE – my daughter loves the Mountain Berry Blast and Fruit Punch Flavors.  They are the perfect size for her during volleyball practice!

Once you have your POWERADE, you’ll want to pick up small dowel rods, beads, glitter, ribbons, and duct tape in your team’s colors, and some cotton balls.  It’s super easy and not expensive at all – and your kids will LOVE making and using these.  My daughter is super stoked to be taking these to our next football game!

Start by wrapping your dowels (you can also use one dowel) with duct tape in your schools’ colors.  We used glittery white with green stripes.

Then, wash an empty POWERADE bottle out, and fill with beads matching your team’s colors.

Then, add glitter.  The little bit of leftover moisture in the bottle will help some of the glitter stick to the side of the jar.

Insert the dowel into the bottle, and seal the hole around the mouth of the bottle using cotton balls.  Once the cotton balls completely seal the hole, run a hot glue gun over the top, which will help seal the bottle even further.

Then, tie lots of ribbons in your teams colors around the mouth of the bottle – the more the better- when you shake it will also act like a pom pom!  For us, this is the perfect game day kit!  POWERADE for my daughter and Coke Zero for me, and a healthy dose of team spirit and we are ready to go!

If you and your teen want to be a game day winner on and off the field, pick up some Coke Zero for you and some POWERADE for your athlete! Coke Zero and POWERADE really fuel up our game weeks – whether we are playing sports or cheering on our favorite teams.

How do you make game days special in your home?
